Gabriella Kenderesi is the singer, songwriter and author of the stories that weave themselves into every Kampec Dolores concert. The band's latest show was inspired by the László Krasznahorkai novel: 'Északról hegy, Délről tó, Nyugatról utak, Keletről folyó' (A Mountain from the North, a Lake from the South, Roads from the West, a River from the East). The half-hour puppet opera incorporated into the show was created to accompany the group's latest songs. The band's musical mastermind is guitari...st Csaba Hajnóczy, former creative linchpin of the legendary Kontroll Csoport, who lines up here alongside bassist Árpád Vajdovich and drummer Csaba Németh. They are joined by saxophonist István Grencsó, known for exploring uncharted jazz territory with an ensemble of his own, and a string quartet. Kampec Dolores has been a fixture on the Hungarian music scene for a good two decades and has built a reputation on its characteristic style, yet undeniably rock-influenced sound. Nonetheless, the nuances of the band's music are rooted in traditional Hungarian culture. Founded in Belarus in 2000, Nagual has successfully married ethno and rock, but their expressive power is inspired by magic, runes and the rhythm of fantasy languages. The Jew's harp and ancient African instruments are among those heard alongside the synthesizer and piano accordion. Their “lyrics” and instrumentation are as avant garde as their exploration of the deepest layers of the collective conscience. A trance-like state and laughter go hand in hand. The ensemble has travelled throughout Eastern Europe, and successfully toured German and French soil. In addition to concerts, the band regularly contributes to animation and documentary films, as well as stage, puppet and circus productions in its native Minsk. Presented by: Palace of Arts
