The enfant terrible of Future jazz, Bugge Wesseltoft was performing in the nineties in Norway with names as Jan Garbarek, Terje Ripdal and Arild Andersen. He then became infected with electronic music and his career took a dramatic new turn. He created “the new concept of jazz” and launched the New Conception of Jazz project in 1994 which led to some milestone records. He even took to publishing them himself. The characteristic of this new music was to combine jazz, house, techno, ambient and no...ise with a high level of creativity – and their recordings and concerts feature much improvisation. This cavalcade of musical styles was named Future or New Jazz. Bugge played piano and Fender Rhode, as well as other keyboard instruments, percussion and samplers, and employed many unique sound effects. In 1997, Bugge formed his own publishing company and its 10th anniversary was celebrated by the Jazzland Community band which went on tour. This tremendous success inspired further work and the Community project again takes to the road, this time with different musicians, although again they are among the best in Norway. Saxophonist Håkon Kornstad has been contracted to the record company for ten years now but Knut Reiersrud, the Norwegian blues guitar phenomenon is making his debut. The young talents of our days play violin, double bass and drums. The concert will feature solo performances and the most diverse pairing of instruments, and the evening will be concluded with playing from the “super group”. As each musician is well known for their adventurous experimentalism, we are guaranteed varied and innovative music.
