Ba Cissoko – kora, vocals, Sekou Kouyaté – kora, vocals, Kourou Kouyaté – bass guitar, vocals, Ibrahima Bah – percussion It is as if Jimi Hendrix was playing on a kora! The Guinean Ba Cissoko formed his band in Conakry in 2001 and it is one of the most striking West-African bands of recent years. The Kouyaté brothers, together with percussionist Ibrahima Bah play the Mandingo musical heritage – using its ancient instrument, the twenty four string kora – with the intensity of rock music and ha...ve taken it in the direction of urban club music. Meanwhile, they have settled in Marseille and conquered all the major European festivals. We are truly fortunate to live in an era when we can marvel at this uniquely fresh traditional music.
