Grigory Sokolov was just 16 years old when, in 1966, he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for piano. Since then he has performed at the Musikverein in Vienna, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has partnered orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Dresden Philharmonic and the Munich Philharmonic. With a broad repertoire extending from Bach to Schoenberg, he has a depth and originalit...y in musical interpretation and a precision in performance that grips both audience and critics alike wherever he plays.
