Now for the seventh time, the exclusive concert series “The Piano”, which has become an integral part of international concert life, comes to the Palace of Arts. Organised by the Jakobi Koncert Kft., this season’s concerts will be given by Dezső Ránki (December 9, 2009), Fazil Say (January 18, 2010) Oleg Maisenberg (March 13, 2010) and Grigory Sokolov (April 15, 2010). We also continue the initiative that offers fifty tickets per concert to young people aged 6–18, accompanied by an adult, at a v...ery favourable tariff: 1000 Ft/ticket. (For further information see: www.jakobikoncert.hu) In the first concert of the series, the stars will be Franz Liszt and Gergely Bogányi. Liszt is regarded as probably the greatest pianist of all time and this concert is scheduled for his birthday. The all Liszt programme will be performed by Gergely Bogányi who was born in 1974 in Vác and following his time at the Budapest Academy of Music, studied at Indiana University and the Helsinki Sibelius Academy. He triumphed at the 1996 Budapest Franz Liszt International Piano Competition, and is now a regular guest at the world’s leading concert halls and festivals and frequently invited as a soloist with the world’s premiere orchestras. He gave the very first solo recital in the National Concert Hall in May 2005. His repertoire comprises over thirty piano concertos, as well as all Chopin’s works for solo piano. In 1996, he became an honorary citizen of Vác, and in 2007, accepted the same award from Zebegény. In 2000 he received the Liszt Prize and in 2002, the prestigious Knight of the Order of the White Rose from the President of Finland. At the age of just thirty, he was awarded the premiere Hungarian state award for an artist, the Kossuth Prize.
