Works by Sweelinck, Frescobaldi, Bach, Buxtehude, Liszt and Alain “Organ Stories” are precisely that: curiosities from organ history, anecdotes about famous organists, mixed with the most diverse music. All over the globe, we can find publications of similar stories about composers and their works, but it is far less common to be treated to them alongside live music. So this concert is a novelty for both performers and audiences. In the first half of the concert, the events and music of earlie...r times are heard. We hear what a poor “organ pumper” behind the pipes thought of certain famous composers and what they actually scribbled on the walls. After the break, with the help of a projected film, we’ll see the insides of the organ and what really happens when the queen of the instruments is being played. We will also learn what challenges the organist has to face as he plays.
