A former musical director of the Moscow Great Theatre, Alexander Vedemidov conducts the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of three pieces of music composed in the early 20th century, not long before the Bolshevik revolution. One of Liadov's last works, Naenia ("Song of Sorrow") was written in 1914, while Glazunov and Scriabin both completed the compositions to be performed here in 1904. Scriabin is among the most important and mysterious forerunners of modern music. Glaz...unov's Violin Concerto in A minor is more traditional than Scriabin's work, employing a musical language closer to that of the Romantic movement. The three works will be performed by Kristóf Baráti, an accomplished violinist in his early thirties and one of the biggest talents of his generation. Presented by the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra
