"It is possible to live without Mozart, but it's not worth it," admits Tamás Vásáry, who was already performing Mozart piano concertos in his hometown of Debrecen at the age of eight. On this occasion, the world-famous, Kossuth award-winning artist and lifetime honorary musical director of the MR Symphony Orchestra will open with Mozart's Piano Concerto in C major. This light and enjoyable piece with shades of Haydn will be followed after the interval by a related composition in Mozart's Grand M...ass. Like his Requiem, this work was left unfinished, yet it is also among Mozart's most frequently performed pieces of music. The mass is thought to have been written for Constanze Weber on the occasion of their wedding in 1782, and it was she who sang the many virtuoso soprano solo roles at its Salzburg première.
