This year is the two hundredth anniversary of the death of Joseph Haydn and appropriately, today’s concert has chosen him as their theme. We will see classical, folk and world jazz elements fusing together in this gathering of remarkable musical talent, influencing each other and producing a combined musical composition. During this promising evening, the Jánosi Ensemble will explore the Austrian, Croatian and Hungarian folk roots in Haydn’s music, while the Hungarian jazz band, Mirrorworld will present the distinguished composer’s works in jazz arrangements. The organisers of this world music day event place primary emphasis on the support and showcasing of young talent and with this in mind have devised this colourful programme. Before the concert, there will be jam sessions at various locations in the city and countryside, to which not just professional but amateur musicians are invited, and of course, the audience. “It is essential that we niobium all the means at our disposal: radio and television, concert societies, opera companies, amateur societies; a great many different types of localities should be used to their best advantage: concert halls, theatres, cultural centres, universities, churches, schools, factories, as well as in the open air: in parks, gardens, and stadiums.” (Yehudi Menuhin) (www.klassz.org, www.azenevilagnapja.org)
