Holiday opening hours

We would like to inform our visitors that during the Christmas holiday the Palace of Arts building and the ticket office will be expecting visitors with changed opening hours.

Online ticket sales will of course be uninterrupted on this day as well.

Müpa Melody Wheel and Christmas Offer

Müpa Budapest awaits all playful visitors with a giant musical machine at the Allee Shopping Mall between 9 and 17 November 2015. Reminiscent of the structure of music-boxes, the Müpa Budapest Sound Machine can be operated by visitors themselves by standing in a large ‘hamster wheel’ and turning it with their steps as they walk ahead. The contraption plays music from six different genres depending on audience preference. The Müpa Budapest Sound Machine is designed to draw attention to the enjoyment of music and Müpa Budapest’s wide variety of programmes.

Those interested can also take advantage of Müpa Budapest’s Christmas Offer on-site as well as receiving gift vouchers for purchasing tickets for performances organised by Müpa Budapest.

WOMEX, the year’s major event in world music is coming up

This week world music will take up residence in Budapest as the most important world music event of the year, WOMEX will be held at various prestigious cultural venues of the Hungarian capital between 21 and 25 October. The venue of evening concerts, the so-called showcases, will be Müpa Budapest, where the international representatives of the world music scene and anyone interested will have more than 50 concerts to choose from between 22 and 24 October.

Tickets for WOMEX are now available

The most important world music event of the year, the World Music Expo (also known as WOMEX) will be held in Budapest between 21 and 25 October 2015. The events of the annual trade fair, conference and festival will be held at prestigious cultural venues of Budapest. Müpa Budapest is the professional partner of Hangvető (the host and organiser of the event), and will also serve as the venue of the evening concerts. The WOMEX concerts – called showcases – will be held on five days and five different stages at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, in the Festival Theatre, three temporary stages in the foyer of Müpa Budapest, as well as two other stages in a marquee set up by the Müpa building. The international representatives of the world music scene and anyone interested will have more than 50 concerts to choose from between 22 & 24 October.

In addition to our main ticket offices in Müpa Budapest and at Andrássy út 28, tickets to Müpa Budapest’s shows can be purchased at our temporary ticket offices during the following opening times:

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 12 pm to 8 pm, closed on Sundays

Mammut II Shopping Mall
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 12 pm to 8 pm, closed on Sundays

Changes in the parking at Müpa Budapest

A new parking system will be installed at Müpa Budapest from the 2015/16 season. The open-gate entry and exit to and from the underground garage will no longer be available. The gates will be operated by automatic license plate recognition.

CAFe Budapest events coming to Müpa Budapest

Contemporary art is soon to take on a leading role in Budapest. This year, the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival will be held between 2 and 18 October, again organised jointly by Müpa Budapest, the Budapest Festival and Tourism Centre and Hungarian Tourism Inc. The series of events will celebrate Arvo Pärt, the Estonian composer who turns 80 this year, pay homage to Béla Bartók by scheduling various compositions by the great collector of Central European folk music and feature such international stars as Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood and Russian violinist and conductor Sergei Krylov. Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company’s unique two-men show, Non Solus, will premier at the festival.

Contemporary circus company’s outstanding success in Holland

a production by Müpa Budapest and Recirquel

The Naked Clown, a production by the Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company, the featured guest performer of the Cultura Nova Festival was met with astounding success in front of an international audience.

Interrupting its Hungarian tour, the company set off to triumph at one of Holland’s most prestigious cultural festivals with the English-language version of its show, The Naked Clown, a joint production with Müpa Budapest. They were to be the highlight of the festival, since Cultura Nova based its entire image around this production, with its poster campaign in and around the town featuring the Hungarian company. Similarly to their resounding successes in Müpa Budapest, as well as in several theatres outside of Budapest and abroad, the Hungarian artists also received a standing ovation in Holland.
