Symphony No. 1 in B flat major (Spring), Op. 38

The Münchner Philharmoniker, one of Germany’s most distinguished symphony orchestras, is particularly proud of the key role it has played in bringing the works of Anton Bruckner and Gustav Mahler to the public. They have worked with such conducting legends as Eugen Jochum, Rudolf Kempe, Sergiu Celibidache, James Levine and Zubin Mehta. At their first Budapest concert, where Barnabás Kelemen will be the featured artist, they will perform a selection of works by Bartók and Schumann.
Standing on the podium will be Lithuanian conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, who in 2016 followed Sir Simon Rattle, Sakari Oramo and Andris Nelsons in the position of music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The world-famous conductor has appeared in concert as the guest of such ensembles as the Sinfonieorchester Basel, the French Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. A returning guest of the most prestigious concert halls, she has also worked with opera directors like Barry Kosky. Since 2018, she has been an exclusive artist of Deutsche Grammophon. Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla will make musical history in 2025 by becoming the first female conductor to hold the baton at a subscription concert of the Vienna Philharmonic.
