Featuring: G. Fodor, E. Erdélyi, Z. Nyári, St. Stephen Oratorio Choir, St. Stephen Secondary School and St. Stephen Music College Mixed Choir Conductor: Kálmán Záborszky Beethoven: Symphony No. 5 in C minor ("Fate"), op. 67 Frigyes Hidas: Requiem This concert pays homage to the 1956 revolution. Besides the Zugló St Stephen Symphony Orchestra, the majority of the three hundred members of the choirs in this concert are secondary school children, participating in the evocation of this imp...ortant event in Hungarian history. Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is a well known symbol of the Hungarian revolution. Frigyes Hidas paid his respects to the heroes of the revolution with his Requiem, written in 1965. It has been performed in seventeen countries, but only received its Hungarian premiere in 1996 on the fortieth anniversary of the uprising. An interesting feature of the work is that the composer uses a woodwind band in the scoring.
