An outstanding representative of the younger generation of conductors, György Vashegyi conducts the Zugló Philharmonia for the first time tonight at the Palace of Arts. Jenő Hubay, whose music is typically conservative, wrote more than 200 compositions for violin, three of which will be performed here by Ferenc Szecsődi. As chairman of the Hubay Society, the Liszt Award-winning and decorated artist has done much to spread the Hungarian composer's appeal. Haydn composed his oratorio The Seasons... at the age of almost 70. In Autumn, Simon sings of hunting birds, while Lucas recalls the driving of rabbits. The theme of the hunt evolves into the highlight of the autumn season, namely the harvest celebrations. The music of Winter begins with heavy and portentous melodies as the cold and hardship is heard in Simon's voice. Hanne revels in the warm room as she sings a cheery song at the spinning wheel. The joyous exchange is cut short by sadness, the inevitable withering of every blossom. Yet man, with the help of belief, is able to master all difficulties. Presented by: Zugló Philharmonia
