Performing Poulenc’s large-scale, single-movement organ concerto is the outstanding organist Dénes Harmath, a multi-faceted personality who, besides his far-reaching musical activities at the highest level, also works as an IT specialist. Puccini’s mass allies an ecclesiastical character with an operatic tone. Originally written in his youth to honour Saint Paul, the composer utilized several themes of the work in his later operas, and these will doubtless be familiar to listeners. Taking the po...dium for the evening is Alexander Mayer, principal conductor of the Sinfonietta de Lausanne.
