This rarely heard Rossini opera marks the return of the Tony Award winner director Bartlett Sher to the Met. This time round, he brings his entire team: Michael Yeargan and Catherine Zuber design the set and costumes and Brian MacDevitt the lighting. Following great success with his Met productions of Barbiere and The Tales of Hoffman, Sher finds the perfect challenge in Rossini’s last comic opera, in which an amorous count disguises himself first as a hermit and then as a nun, and is made a foo...l even by his page. The new production brings three bel canto virtuosos, Flórez, Damrau and DiDonato to the stage. The transmissions in Budapest have been made possible by Erste Bank, a strategic partner of the Palace of Arts. Bloomberg is the global corporate sponsor of The Met: Live in HD.
