Liszt: Funerailles Debussy: Two Arabesques Liszt: Sposalizio Debussy: Pour le piano Liszt: Waldesrauschen Debussy: L’Isle Joyeuse Liszt: Jeux d’Eau a la Villa d’Este Debussy: Suite bergamasque Liszt: First Mephisto Waltz Tamás Érdi, one of the sparking talents of the new generation of pianists, lost his sight as a result of a faulty incubator when he was born prematurely. His exceptional musical talents became rapidly apparent and his teachers Erika Becht and Zsuzsa Kollár introduced ...him to a special method for “seeing” music scores and as a result, he could soon create his own artistic readings. He first performed in public at the Pest Vigadó and at the age of fifteen, performed one of Mozart’s piano concertos at the Budapest Spring Festival with Tamás Vásáry conducting. At seventeen, he won first place in the Louis Braille International Piano Competition in Moscow and two years later, published his first recording. In 2002, he graduated from the Toronto Royal College of Music which he attended on a scholarship, studying with the world famous pianist Leon Fleisher. He is now twenty eight and has performed in several dozen concerts and worked with virtually all the Hungarian symphony orchestras, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra and distinguished musicians such as Uri Mayer, Rico Saccani and Tamás Vásáry. His mature piano playing has been heard in America, at the Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Centre no less! Recently, he has released one CD each year. In 2003 he won the Gundel Prize in the classical music category; in 2004 he made an album of Chopin; in 2005 the Palace of Arts released its first serious music DVD including Tamás Érdi’s debut concert in the National Concert Hall. In late 2006, Hungaroton released his latest album which features his favourite works by Liszt and Bartók.
