The concert programme will be announced in May on the www.jakobikoncert.hu website. Piotr Anderszewskit is one of the leading pianists of his generation. Since his London debut in 1991 he has become a world star. “A deeply moving experience … the audience listened entranced” wrote the critic of the Independent. Since then, Anderszewski has given concerts regularly in the world’s leading venues: Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall (London), Wiener Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall (New York), S...untory Hall (Tokyo) and played with premiere ensembles and conductors: Berlin Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, as well as with Claudio Abbado, John Eliot Gardiner, Bernard Haitink and Charles Dutoit. His first solo recording (Bach and Beethoven) won the Polish Critics’ Prize in 1996 and led to a whole Bach series. In 2001, a film was made of him playing Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, which won a number of French prizes and the critics spoke of “playing of exceptional insight and finesse, which few other pianists today could match” (The Guardian). His orchestral concerts won him the prize of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, which is given to the best instrumental performers. He joined the likes of Murray Perahia, Itzhak Perlman and András Schiff as a recipient. In 2002, he was bestowed the Szymanowski Prize in recognition of his performances of the composer’s work. “…Of the younger pianists, he seems the most likely to join the all time greats” (BBC Music Magazine).
