This is the 15th time that Endre Hegedűs has volunteered to perform two full-length concerto works in the same evening in the Béla Bartók Concert Hall. Written between 1809 and 1811, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major received the sobriquet Emperor from its English edition. This magnificent concerto expresses Beethoven's worldview, with its enthusiasm for liberty, equality and fraternity. Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor has been a consistently popular masterpiece... ever since its highly acclaimed world première in Boston in 1875 Romantic spirit, enormous power, the boundless energy of youth and a bold use of contrasts - all this in the most enchanting of unities offers an extraordinary musical experience to the performer and audience alike.
