The prelude to Genesis was u...ndertaken by Schoenberg, while another, entitled Babel was written by Stravinsky. Schoenberg, who knew at first hand all about Jewish persecution, later wrote his A Survivor from Warsaw. In the second half of the concert, we fly back to peacetime Paris. This is where Vincent d’Indy wrote his symphony János Hunyadi, still unpublished, the discovery of which has been a true sensation. A decade later, Saint-Saëns composed his organ symphony which is dedicated to the memory of Franz Liszt.
