Conductor: Martin Haselböck Schubert: Rosamunde Overture, D. 644 Schubert–Berio: Rendering Bruckner: Symphony No. 1 in C minor The superb Austrian guest conductor, who has made a reputation for himself internationally as an organist as well, has compiled an exciting programme from works by his fellow countrymen. After the Rosamunde Overture, one of the most popular of Franz Schubert’s compositions, we will hear yet another Schubert “unfinished symphony”. This time, Luciano Berio, one o...f the most important composers from the second half of the twentieth century, has completed Schubert’s sketches with his own music, in an original work entitled Rendering. Anton Bruckner’s first symphony, compared to his monumental later works, is relatively modest in proportions and is rarely heard in the concert hall.
