This is the first time this suite will be performed in Hungary. Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody employs the famous them...e from Paganini’s 24th caprice. Verdi’s opera The Sicilian Vespers was premiered on June 13th 1855 and at the time, was only a modest success. Humperdink’s love scene was written for a stage production of Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice. Respighi’s best known symphonic poems sing of the Italian capital’s glorious past and present.
