Latvian star cellist Mischa Maisky was dubbed the next Rostropovich aged just 17. Yet little more than five years later he was subjected to 18 months in a labour camp. Once freed, he emigrated to Israel, where his career took off when he won the Gaspar Cassado cello competition in Florence and performed in New York's Carnegie Hall. Currently living in Belgium, Maisky tirelessly travels the world recording and performing, most recently with his violinist daughter Lily and pianist son Sascha. He i...s accompanied here in Budapest by the remarkably rich sounds of the Prague Chamber Orchestra.
