As the creator of the Mini-Festival as an “institution”, Zsolt Durkó features at this concert with the work he himself composed for his first radio recording in 1964. The freshly graduated composer had returned home a few months earlier from the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where this piece won him his diploma of merit in the masterclass of Goffredo Petrassi. A one-time student of Miklós Kocsár, Endre Olsvay has not allowed himself to be pigeonholed into any current tendency as a compos...er. His works are heard regularly at festivals in both Hungary and abroad, and his methodical way of thinking has been hailed in numerous specialist articles, critical reviews and analytical essays. László Dubrovay completed his studies in composition in Budapest and German academies, gaining familiarity with the latest findings of 20th century sonic research and various compositional techniques with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Hans-Ulrich Humpert. His Piano Concerto No. 3 was premièred at the Budapest Spring Festival in 2011. Miklós Sugár is an adherent of electroacoustic music and other sub-genres who completed his compositional studies under Emil Petrovics, while also acquiring a diploma in conducting. Familiar from concerts, festivals and recordings, the composer is the recipient of numerous official accolades. Following the resounding success of The Stork Caliph, Anthem of the Sun, the St Luke Passion and Verkündigung, Levente Gyöngyösi’s Symphony No. 1, composed in 2009, was received as one of the most outstanding compositions of recent years. Not long after, he began work on his Symphony No. 2. Presented by: MZT, Palace of Arts
