Erika Miklósa is one of the most glorious stars of the current generation of Hungarian opera singers. Since 2004 she has starred at the New York Metropolitan Opera but has also appeared in the great opera houses of London, Paris, Madrid and Berlin. Since 2006 she has given a yearly gala concert at the Palace of Arts, which has been attended by full houses and she has always been accompanied by the MAV Symphony Orchestra. They have also made a CD together and such is their friendship that she app...ears now as their guest. There are in some respects changes to the traditions of her earlier concerts. Naturally she will sing some great arias but she is also broadening her repertoire in the direction of “lighter genres”. (Audiences at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall could hear her sing Maria in West Side Story at the 2008 Budapest Spring Festival.) Previously she has invited distinguished world stars of opera, but this evening she will be partnered by friends from the younger generation of Hungarian singers: Attila Dolhai from the world of musicals and Zoltán Nyári and Csaba Szegedi from that of opera. The concert will be conducted by János Kovács, principal conductor of the Hungarian State Opera House, who has led countless memorable opera performances and gala concerts.
