Conductor: Emmanuel Krivine Schumann: Overture, Scherzo and Finale, op. 52 Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major Sibelius: Symphony No. 6 in D minor, op. 104 Emmanuel Krivine was born in Grenoble in 1947 and began his musical career as a violinist. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire cum laude at the age of sixteen before undertaking further studies with Henryk Szeryng and Yehudi Menuhin. The turning point in his life was meeting Karl Böhm in Salzburg in 1965 which convinced him t...o become a conductor. During his years as music director of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lyon National Orchestra and the French Youth Orchestra, he also worked as a guest conductor with the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo and also conducted in Cleveland, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. He was the principal guest conductor of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra before his appointment in 2006 as its music director. Jean-Yves Thibaudet was born in Lyon in 1961. At the age of five, he began studying piano and was nine when he gave his first solo concert. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire at the age of fifteen. After winning several competitions, he won the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York and this led to a series of sensational debuts in concert halls in America and the Far East. He has given concerts with the world’s leading orchestras and conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Herbert Blomstedt, Riccardo Chailly, Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev and James Levine. He has made over thirty recordings. In 2001, he was awarded the Chevallier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Republic of France.
