Le Poème Harmonique from France is a unique early music ensemble that embraces a range of the performing arts, making it a fitting choice to crown carnival time at the Palace of Arts. Formed in 1998 and specialising in the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, the group’s refined period musicians are joined on stage by dancers, acrobats, jugglers, mimes and clowns. Their historically authentic choreography and gestures lend a unique feel to this special production, conjuring up the unrestrained ...atmosphere of a mid-17th century Italian baroque carnival in the surroundings of a modern concert hall. With the help of a fantastic group of performers, artistic director Vincent Dumestre and director Cécile Roussat created a production based on serious research into genre history and styles in 2006. Presented by the Palace of Arts
