The series “It Plays Again!” is a fascinating concept for a concert! It features instruments from the 18th and 19th century that were popular in their day but now forgotten. They include the Nagelgeige (“nail violin”), the Maultrommel (“mouthbass”), the arpeggione, the glass harmonica, the baryton and the pochette and they will be performed by internationally renowned exponents. Although they have been heard publicly all over the world in recent years, never before (at least not since the early ...19th century) has anyone brought them all together on a single stage. Haydn, Mozart, Schubert and Albrechtsberger were among the best known composers of their time who wrote for these instruments which guarantee music of the highest calibre. The concert also connects to the good nature of carnival season.
