Zoltán Kocsis has created this programme in which one piece each by a member of the Viennese classicists is linked by tonality. Haydn’s Symphony in A major is the last of his so-called Paris symphonies and is not the most popular. Beethoven’s Symphony in A major by contrast is one of the most frequently played of all his many works. These two symphonies frame the Piano Concerto in A major by Mozart which is relatively rarely heard in the Hungarian concert hall and it is the first time it has fe...atured in the repertoire of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance is a mouth-watering prospect because Zoltán Kocsis is not only the conductor but also the soloist.
