Over the past year, soloist Gábor Boldoczki has won three of the top five international competitions, receiving awards in the other two. He has also released five CDs in six years and has an exclusive contract with one of the world's largest record companies. He was resident soloist at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival in summer 2010, for which Say Fazil, world-famous pianist and conductor, composed a trumpet concerto exclusively for him. He gives the vast majority of his concerts outside Hung...ary, so it is a celebration in itself to see Boldoczki before a Hungarian audience. Prior to Hummel's popular Trumpet Concerto, he will play György Ligeti's Atmosphères one of Romanticism's great dances of death. The interval will be followed by Barber's quiet yet passionate Adagio, which is always a hit with audiences. Richard Strauss's symphonic composition is a testing bed for the virtuoso orchestra and will be conducted by Gilbert Varga, a former student of Franco Ferrara and Sergiu Celibidache. He regularly conducts the world's leading orchestras, and this is not the first time he has worked with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Presented by: The Hungarian National Philharmonic
