Live broadcast with English and Hungarian subtitle. The Met's Rodelinda was described as a milestone by The New York Times after its première in 2004. “Seldom has Handel's inexhaustible imagination seemed as miraculous as in Rodelinda,” the newspaper wrote, while glorying in the work's baroque style and the successful compromises reached in adapting the work to the traditions of the Met. The conductor for this outstanding production was experienced Handelian Harry Bicket, who was primarily pr...aised for the balance he found in an orchestra comprising a string section of baroque instruments and authentic recorders and lutes, remaining true to the historic sound and its intended dramatic impact. In the sumptuously decorative title role of the Queen of Lombardy, they reported on the dramatic and musical achievements of Renée Fleming in nothing but superlatives, and the same applies to the villain Kobie van Rensburg, who was making his Met début at the time. The set was created by Thomas Lynch and the costumes by Martin Pakledinaz, while the lighting was designed by Peter Kaczorowski. Presented by: Palace of Arts, Sponsor: Erste Bank
