The first “National Conservatoire” – later known as the National Music Nursery (Zenede) – opened its doors in 1840. Franz Liszt gave his support on several occasions to launch it and followed its development. Imre Madách, Clara Schumann, Henry Vieuxtemps, Anna La Grange, József Joachim, Ede Reményi and others who helped the conservatoire, followed his example. On its 25th jubilee, Franz Liszt conducted his Legend of Saint Elisabeth. When it was performed in Paris, Gounod said to Liszt, who was... seated beside him: “This work is constructed from sacred stones”. Posterity would like to further build on the 170-year heritage of the National Conservatoire with such building stones, and it will be celebrated at this event by present and former students, including principal patron, Dr András Batta, rector of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. Principal sponsors: Franz Liszt Academy of Music, Zenede Foundation
