Concertmaster: János Rolla Beethoven: Prometheus – overture, op. 43 Beethoven: Piano Concerto in G major, op. 58 Schubert: String Quintet in C major – orchestral version, D. 956 Dezső Ránki is one of the greatest pianists of our time. He graduated from the Budapest Academy of Music in 1973 where he studied with Pál Kadosa and Ferenc Rados, but while still a student, won the Zwickau International Schumann Competition in 1969 at the age of eighteen. Since then he has performed all over the... world. He regularly gives recitals across Europe and has played in North and South America on several occasions. Every two to three years, he tours Japan. He has played with the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Paris Orchestre Nationale, the NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo, and worked with conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Sir Georg Solti and Sándor Végh. He is also an enthusiastic chamber musician and since 1985 has regularly given concerts for four hands and two pianos with his wife Edit Klukon.
