In the first half of this concert, we will hear a concerto work by Miklós Rózsa, who lived between 1907 and 1995. The second half will feature film music with a film projection. “What Teller was to nuclear fission, what Trauner to set designing that was Miklós Rózsa to film music: the American Hungarian musician famous from Hollywood. He was awarded the Oscar for his film music – in 1945 for two witty, psychoanalytical leitmotifs in Hitchcock’s Spellbound, for Othello (G. Cukor) in 1947 and t...he symphonic music for Ben Hur (Wyler) in 1959. That omits the sixteen other occasions when he was nominated for an Academy Award, and that his name is also linked to music of The Jungle Book, The Thief of Baghdad, Lady Hamilton and Quo Vadis.” (Péter Molnár Gál)
