The first half of the concert illuminates characteristic moments when Hungarian music has appeared in European musical culture. Hungarian motifs originally spread by Gypsy bands – particularly with the growing popularity of the verbunkos genre – became an important and exotic additive to European music. The second half of the concert features important works which grew out of Hungary’s authentic folk tradition. A special feature of this performance is the involvement of an ensemble of orchestra ...members who play authentic folk music. It has already performed with enormous success both at home and abroad in presenting the original folk music that was refined and transformed into concert works by Bartók, Kodály and Dohnányi. Presented by: Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok, Palace of Arts
