Dezső Ránki graduated from the Budapest Academy of Music as a student of Pál Kadosa and Ferenc Rados in 1973. Aged 18, he won first prize in the Zwickau International Schumann Competition and has been giving concerts all over the world ever since. Ránki has played with the Berlin and Philharmonic Orchestras, the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the Orchestre National in Paris and a host of illustrious conductors, including György Solti, Sándor Végh, Lorin Maazellel and Zubin Mehta. He has b...een performing music for four hands and two pianos with Edit Klukon since 1985. Their most recent tour visited Washington (as part of a Dukay evening), Berlin, Paris, Tokyo and New York, and their latest recording features works from Liszt, Satie and Dukay. Ránki's awards include the Liszt Prize in 1973, the Kossuth Prize in 1978, the Budapest Artist's Award in 1982, the Artistic Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in 1984, the Bartók-Pásztory Prize in 1988, the Outstanding Artist Award in 1990, and the Prima Primissima Award in 2005.
