The 2010/2011 season sees two new subscription series from Concerto Budapest at the Palace of Arts, the Karajan and the Richter. The Richter series pays homage to the great Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter, and features works by Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev and Shostakovich. Richter bequeathed a tremendous heritage for us, not just in spirit but in quantity: his recordings, primarily of live performances, number thousands. He was not only one of the greates...t pianists of the 20th century but also a tremendously influential personality who shaped the tastes and understanding of music and culture of whole generations.
