In the 2012/13 season the Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok presents music’s connections to several other art forms. The title of its new season ticket series is thus “Music and…” – i.e. music and film, music and dance, music and painting, music and theatre. Given that the orchestra has become renowned in recent years for its concerts of film music, the cinema presents itself as an obvious element of the series. The music in the first concert of the series will be accompanied by video clips. The firs...t half of this evening’s concert features Part I of Handel’s oratorio Israel in Egypt, which paints a musical portrait of the Ten Plagues. The highly figurative character of this work provides a fitting complement to the second half of film music and movie clips.
