Icaro is a mountain Daniele Finzi Pasca has climbed every year over the past seventeen years. Why? Because it offers him an encounter with timelessness, and because he wants to experience the sense of momentary triumph. The play is about an anti-hero who frequently fails, and becomes, every now and then, a winner for a moment.
"Governments come and go, children are born, we lose an old friend—but mountains remain changeless forever. A mountain is a permanent thing: you either ...climb it and become a winner, partake of the experience, or you don't. My grandmother never left her kitchen, and discovered the world for herself by inviting family over for dinner. I too make my show as if I were relating the stories that are reflected in the eyes of my audience,” draws a parallel the director. Icaro is a play on love, the will to live, and hope, with the clown of Daniele Finzi Pasca standing in the window of the hospital ward, teaching humanity the art of survival, the art of flying.
