The “Reflected in the Classics” series from the Budapest Strings continues in the 2012/13 season in the Glass Hall, a concert venue with a special atmosphere as the early evening light plays on the magnificent panoramic vista of the Danube. These concerts customarily offer audiences the opportunity to become acquainted with the work of two contemporary composers as reflected in past masterpieces from the classical repertoire. With this series, the orchestra aims to demonstrate that classical and... contemporary music are intrinsically linked and can produce a harmonious whole when performed side by side. The Budapest Strings wish to address the more conservative concert audience and engage them in a genuine musical experience without emphasis on any particular style. The host and presenter for these evenings, the music historian Endre Tóth, will engage in conversation with the contemporary composers in attendance.
