Details of individual concerts are available at www.budapestivonosok.hu The concept of this series is for each concert to premiere works by young and acknowledged composers written specifically for the occasion. For each concert, three composers will have a work performed, together with a classical work that inspired them. The commissioned composers are: Barnabás Dukay, Árpád Kákonyi, Zoltán Kovács, Bánk Sáry, László Sáry, Sándor Szokolay, Péter Tóth and Péter Wolf. The Budapest Strings have ...asked them to chose a work from the classical string literature, which has some personal meaning or significance for them. Both the inspiring work and their new piece will be played at the concert. Each programme features a host who will talk with the composers. The composers will initiate the audience into the influences behind each work, the hidden or clear parallels between the original work and the newly premiered piece. The Budapeset Strings believe that it is vitally important to popularise contemporary composers because this brings modern pieces closer to the audience, and thus the listener obtains a superior insight into the process of composition. Their juxtaposition with a classical work provides points of orientation and is a multi-layered and exceptionally interesting addition. This series is of particular interest for music students but it will fascinate anyone who loves serious music. The audience can direct questions to the composers, breaking down the traditional barriers, and bringing performers and creations closer. Further performances: November 12, February 5, 2011 (17.00)
