Poet, writer, political writer and performer. Three volumes of poems, one novel. This much we already know. But it’s from this point on that this evening’s Literarium guest really starts to get interesting. Her introduction can only begin where that of another leaves off. Postmodern diva? Lyrical celebrity? Because of her activity in so many areas, she prefers to call herself a Culture Demon. That’s OK too, but for simplicity’s sake we’ll stick with calling her a “phenomenon” who is equally at h...ome at the Palace of Arts or a commercial TV studio, on a literary stage or at the table of cooking show Vacsoracsata, conducting an auction or modelling, giving a concert or writing a screenplay, appearing on the pages of both the most prestigious literary periodicals and women’s magazines such as Nők Lapja, Elle and La Femme. The band she sings in with Evelin Tóth, Fekete Macska (Black Cat), is – according to her own definition – a wonderful amalgam of music, poetry and theatre. Last year, she presented her first musical, Macskadémon (Cat Demon), written jointly with Máté Bella, and has also put out two CDs of music. Whatever form the evening takes, it is certain that no one will get bored and we can count on a series of genuine surprises, unexpected turns and unpredictable events. An eventful and varied literary show in many genres, enlivened by a host of invited guests and the customary presence of Alinda Veiszer and Veronika Harcsa. And while all this is going on – given that all categories prove too narrow when describing the personality of Orsolya Karafiáth – there will be nothing to remind those present of the kind of literary evening their memories and experience have taught them to expect.
