Until 24 April tram 2 will be running on a shortened route

On Wednesday, 20 April 2016 from the first departure until 20:00 on Sunday, 24 April 2016, tram 2 will be running on a shortened route between  Jászai Mari tér and Fővám tér due to track refurbishment, but replacement buses will be operating between Közvágóhíd and Fővám tér.

Please be informed that Kim Kashkashian is unwell, and the soloist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s concert on 8 April, the opening event of the Budapest Spring Festival, will be Julian Rachlin.

The programme of the concert remains unchanged.

We would like to inform our visitors 28 March the Müpa building, the ticket offices, the Vince Bookshop, the Rózsavölgyi CD and Sheet Music Store, the Ethnosound Musical Instrument Store and the Bohemian Reastaurant will be closed.

Online ticket sales will of course be uninterrupted on this day as well.

Lights of Budapest switched off from Müpa Budapest

On 19 March, Budapest will go dark for one hour commemorating Earth Hour. In support of the initiative of WWF Hungary, Müpa Budapest will be one of the locations hosting events that draw attention to the issues of sustainable development and environmental protection. The two-day series of programmes will feature concerts, children's activities, the KIK CliMates workshop, the WWF Green Generation and the Living Danube Tour. The Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra will also be dedicating its evening concert to the Earth Hour, with the concert’s soloist performing the surprise encore in the dark, with only a piano light illuminating the stage.

László Fassang named Artist of Merit of Hungary

In recognition of his unparalleled skills in performing classical organ works and improvised pieces alike, Liszt Award and Prima Prize winner László Fassang (Artist of the Season at Müpa Budapest this season) was named Artist of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. The musician, whose expert contribution helped make the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall organ (inaugurated in May 2006) one of the most significant instruments in Europe today, will be performing a concert at Müpa Budapest on 17 March with invited guest musicians.

15 different season ticket series for the 2016/17 season

Cecilia Bartoli, Sir Antonio Pappano, Péter Eötvös, the New York Philharmonic – global stars, leading Hungarian and international ensembles, new and revamped series, young talent at the doorstep to worldwide fame – Müpa Budapest’s 2016/17 season is set to welcome visitors with a diverse line-up yet again. 

There will be 15 different series for music fans to choose from, and ticket buyers can expect a markdown higher than before, at 20 percent on average, compared to regular ticket prices for the various performances.
