Zoltán Kocsis has left a huge void, but also a task we must carry on

“We have received the news of the passing of Zoltán Kocsis with deep grief. We were undaunted in our hope of his eventual recovery, for we knew he had many unrealised plans, and it was this work and planned performances that kept him alive. His death is not only the loss a world famous conductor and a prominent figure of the world of music, but also that of a great friend and a fellow artist with whom we shared countless memories and unforgettable concerts. It is going to be immensely tough to go on without him, but it is our responsibility to carry his legacy forward”, Müpa Budapest CEO Csaba Káel said about the 6 November death of Zoltán Kocsis.

Contemporary circus up close – new 360-degree video

Since 1 July, visitors to the Müpa Budapest website and social media accounts have been able to watch video that gives them a 360-degree view of performers at the venue. Following unique footage of the Wagner in Budapest festival, you are now invited to take a glimpse into the world of the circus. The three-minute clip was stitched together from media recorded by ten cameras to allow the viewer to marvel at the precise movements of the Recirquel artistes in 360 degrees and almost within touching distance. The sequence had to be repeated five times, which not only demanded enormous concentration and effort from the artistes, but also required them to follow a complex choreography.

Fewer outdoor parking spaces available until 26 October

We would like to hereby inform our guests that as a result of the event marquee set up in the outdoor parking lot in front of the Müpa Budapest building, the number of parking spaces available will temporarily drop by approximately 150. The marquee will remain set up in the parking lot until 26 October. In the coming days – on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (19, 20 and 21 October) – both Müpa Budapest and the neighbouring National Theatre will be staging numerous programmes, all expected a high attendance, and for this reason we are asking all visitors to consider – on account of the scarcity of parking options – the use of public transportation.
