June means it’s time for some Wagner. And just as it has always done for nearly two decades – Müpa Budapest will once again be flinging open its doors to welcome not only fans of the great opera composer’s work, but also those who want to take this opportunity to get to know the world of the greatest creator of 19th-century musical drama, one full of secrets and discoveries to be made.

Liszt Fest at Müpa Budapest

9-22 October 2024

Launched on the 210th anniversary of Ferenc Liszt’s birth, the Liszt Fest International Cultural Festival presents leading artists and the latest productions of the Hungarian and the international scene. Liszt’s work is marked by superb quality, a diversity of genres and richness of forms, and these values are also essential for the Liszt Fest. Müpa Budapest’s event series of the arts offers large-scale concerts, classical and contemporary chamber music productions, contemporary circus perfomances, pop and jazz concerts, dance shows, literary and visual art events, and open-air performances, in Budapest’s principal spaces of the performing and the visual arts, and on countless locations in the city.

Rising Stars

8-10 November 2024

On the second weekend of November, in the Festival Theatre, we will once again get the chance to meet Europe’s ‘rising stars’, representing the kind of novelty – in this case including young, talented and boldly experimental performing artists bringing imaginative and engagingly compiled programmes – that the receptive Müpa Budapest audience have grown accustomed to. This series launched by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) presents the stars of the not-so-distant future – this year a French/Dutch violist, a Portuguese clarinettist, a British trumpeter, a French string quartet, a Luxembourgish cellist and an Austrian pianist – for whom renowned female composers have created new musical works, four of which will be receiving their world premieres here at Müpa Budapest.

Jazz Showcase

7-9 February 2025

With this 18th instalment of Jazz Showcase, one of Europe’s most important jazz talent exchanges is coming of age. The free event, which starts at 4.30 pm on each of the three days, will once again bring to the stage six extremely promising up-and-coming bands selected by a preliminary jury from a host of applicants.

Jazz Spring

9-11 May 2025

You couldn’t say that the 21st edition of Jazz Spring is like blackjack, because we are guaranteed not to go bust with this next crop of international stars providing this experience of a lifetime. The 2025 event series places the spotlight on the trumpet, with an extremely diverse offering distinguished by a party atmosphere, sophisticated instrumental solos, pop, Latin, R&B and hip-hop elements, as well as a drive to push beyond established formulas.

Hey, June!

7-13 June 2025

Just like Müpa Budapest as a whole, our homemade Hey, June! mini-festival will also celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. Between the days of 7 and 13 June, we will once kick off the summer with some truly special acts, ranging from new-wave hip-hop to folk-infused pop to dynamic and improvisational psychedelic art rock.

Gallery Concerts

Müpa Budapest’s Gallery Concerts series not only offers you the chance to experience the unique sound of what is considered one of the world’s finest concert hall organs, it will also allow you to see the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall – literally – in a completely different light. The other unique feature about our approximately one-hour organ concerts is that visitors watch them exclusively from the galleries.

Müpa Film Club - 110 Years of Hungarian Animation

Reality is a fine thing, but sometimes it’s even better to switch it off with the push of a button. Or simply by purchasing a cinema ticket. This series introduces the most free-spirited artists in the history of Hungarian animated film, ones who have helped millions of viewers around the world get a little closer to the realm of dreams, where neither the stubborn laws of physics nor the rules of grey everyday life operate in the familiar fashion!
