With 180 concerts on four continents behind it since its 1988 debut in Vienna, ‘The Grand Chinese New Year Concert’ tour is returning to Müpa Budapest for another show in 2025. Every year, the series presents different nuances, traditions and regions of Chinese music, featuring a different orchestra each time and introducing the audience to the richness of China’s musical heritage, one spanning millennia. Wu Promotion’s marquee project is returning to Europe to ring in the Year of the Snake, this time with the China Conservatory of Music Traditional Orchestra, conducted by Li Xincao and featuring soloists like Ma Ke on the stringed instrument known as erhu and Wang Zhongshan, virtuoso of the zither-like plucked guzheng, along with Yang Tingting on the four-stringed, short-necked lute-like pipa and Zhang Qianyuan, on the suona, a wind instrument.
