Kornél Fekete Kovács is well known across Europe not only as a solo trumpet player and jazz musician, but also as a prize-winning composer. He participates in many local and international orchestras, as well as a variety of one-off projects. He was the founder and leader of the Budapest Jazz Orchestra until 2005 and established his own quartet in 2006. With strong leanings towards the glorious sounds of the symphony orchestra, this evening he demonstrates that his excursions into chamber music a...re equally noteworthy. A world renowned pianist, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos has achieved unrivalled success in Hungary as an exponent of fusion jazz with the founding of the Rákfogó orchestra. Szakcsi has a complete mastery of all aspects of this genre and participates in a variety of international festivals. Apart from jazz, he also collects Gypsy folklore and has a strong interest in world music. The partnership between Szakcsi and the Miklós Lukács Quintet is not a new development and the Palace of Arts is always delighted to host their combined performances. Miklós Lukács’s ensemble is also open to a broad spectrum of genres and moves freely in both jazz and world music in collaboration with the likes of Irén Lovász, Mihály Borbély, Kálmán Balogh and Mihály Dresch. Those familiar with Lukács’s work will have had the opportunity to hear his unique cimbalom playing in a number of international productions. This evening's performance is living proof of how top musicians can break down the borders between genres and bring an unforgettable experience to the audience. Presented by: Palace of Arts
