Is jazz music an entirely different animal from so-called serious music, or is it nearer the truth that we can find numerous close relationships between the two types of music and mutual influences? Our questions will be answered by a musician who is at home in both genres. The Hungarian pianist, living in Bratislava, Miklós Skuta has won prizes at various international competitions and is a regular guest at such leading festivals as the Warsaw Autumn Festival, the Davos International Music Fes...tival, the Salzburg Festival and the Zurich and Saalfelden Jazz Festivals. The other guest in our concert will be the no less famous Budapest Jazz Orchestra who for many years was the first and only big band in Hungary (a jazz ensemble with more than 12 members). Their concerts in Hungary and abroad feature compositions by the likes of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and Count Basie.
