Formed in 1971, the Jászság Folk Ensemble recorded its first great success in 1977, when it won a national competition on Hungarian Television. Over the years, they have been invited to numerous Hungarian festivals and almost always won valuable prizes: they were awarded outstanding ranking for the fifth time in 2006 on the György Martin Folk Dance Association demonstration stage. The Ensemble’s mission is to explore, cherish and present the still living traditions of Hungarian peasant dance and... folk music. They see it as an outstanding national treasure and aim to learn and show it on the stage with the greatest authenticity. Their jubilee programme includes their production On the Wall of the Age and Hungarian, Romanian and Gypsy dance and music from the Küküllő region.
