For the first time since 1993, Puccini’s opera evoking the harsh atmosphere of the Wild West returns to the Metropolitan, which also housed its world première in December 1910 under Arturo Toscanini. A hundred years later, on December 6 the Met revives Giancarlo del Monaco’s outstandingly successful production from 1991. Audiences of the live broadcast will see the last of the performances in this anniversary series, with three excellent singers: Deborah Voigt is known for her lyricism, vocal be...auty and dramatic energy, Marcello Giordani has enjoyed a string of successes since his debut at the Met in 2007 and the famous Finnish baritone Juha Uusitalo is familiar to Budapest audiences of Met broadcasts as Scarpia from Tosca. The transmissions in Budapest have been made possible by Erste Bank, a strategic partner of the Palace of Arts. Bloomberg is the global corporate sponsor of The Met: Live in HD.
