Webcast season opens

2011. September 07.

The Palace of Arts will launch the autumn season of Müpa Live Webcast, one of the most popular services of its website, with two live broadcasts within one week. First on 7 September, audiences at home can enjoy the opening concert of Jazzforum Budapest 2011, then two days later, on 9 September, the first concert of the Mahler Festival will be broadcast.

Now in its ninth year, Jazzforum Budapest this time focuses on Poland. The first performer of the two-part concert is 25-year-old Polish pianist Pawel Kaczmarczyk, while the second half will feature an international collective, offering a unique combination of jazz and reggae.
Two days later, at the Budapest Mahler Festival, traditionally organised by the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Palace of Arts at the beginning of September, the BFO will perform Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 1, “The Titan”, Enescu’s Prélude à l’unisson, 1st movement of Suite No. 1, op. 9, Wolf’s Harfenspieler No. 1 featuring Wolfgang Holzmair and Serenade No. 4 by György Orbán. Conductor, as usual, is Ivan Fischer, Music Director of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and artistic director of the Budapest Mahler Festival.
